I’m hoping this was due to constraints of time versus content, because I can’t think of a more terrible way to present a such a pivotal episode. Jung had committed treason by questioning So’s ascension. I’m predicting a sad ending to this drama. Prince Jung’s crush over Hae Soo is cute, but I wonder if more will come of it, because you know Prince So and Hae Soo will have more difficulties. He gives her a pretty present. She’s attached herself to Prince Wook. Hae Soo doesn’t care that the pregnancy will stress her body. When she sees a drawing of him all alone in the outside court of the palace, Hae Soo collapses in tears, apologizing over and over again for having left him alone. All she has is some vague history lesson and some red filter visions to tell her Prince So is Guangjong. From then on, he wants nothing to do with Hae Soo and Jung. The 8th prince. Like I said before, this can’t be good. Oh the other hand, I am able to justify Soo’s over reaction/response to So. Accept it because she needs to go back to the present and she wasn’t meant to stay that long in Goryeo. Get early prenatal care. Those three drinks that she served him. What did I get out of episode 13? So’s emotional break down in front of Hae Soo brought the friendship between So and Hae Soo together. I would see that Hae Soo would have fallen in love with him eventually if she remained by his side. Getting pregnant again. That was just plain delusional. Since we’re on the subject, lets talk for a moment about LJG and IU’s stunning chemistry. He tried his best to make Hae Soo feel better the only way he knew how, to the point of wanting to make her a royal concubine, and then second queen after bearing a child. I bet she goes to Prince So with her sob story and he will feel obligated to marry her, just like he felt obligated to marry his little girl niece. It was fortunate for all involved that it did rain right after Prince So showed up at the temple. He wanted So dead, not because So sided with the Crown Prince, but because he seemed to be close to Hae Soo. We know Empress Yoo wants to remove the Crown Prince to make way for one of her sons to take his place (any of them will do). One of the reasons why I loved this show so much after my first watch was how showed all people live in the morally grey area. I just don’t want to see Hae Soo and Prince So break up. Any time a character is pregnant somewhat unexpectedly on a show, we often wonder if the actress was pregnant too, and the storyline was created to make filming easier. I’m sorry to all who are still in pain and in shock over last episode’s revelation. She then tells Prince Wook to stay away from Prince So. Of all the actors on this drama, I’m respecting Lee Jun Gi more and more. Predictably, Hae Soo is pregnant with So’s baby. Wow! I know that SHR near the end sorta… fell apart… but where it excelled was in creating these wonderful moments between our OTP. Real. People are spying on Hae Soo and Jung… what a surprise (sarcastic remark). The girl reacts in the very same way as Hae Soo did when she ran into him all those long years ago. After speaking to them, Hyun-soo decides that the best course of action at the moment was to catch hold of the accomplice and help Ji-won in her investigation. There are times when you are brilliant. He lives there, for crying out loud. Both are incredibly selfish and pathetic. The public is fickle and to make Prince So go through that gauntlet of common (and uneducated) townsfolk was cruel. Other than the ewww factor, this does follow actual history. After the pelting of stones and mud, it’s no wonder Prince So ran away to hide. Specifically, I knew Lee Joon Gi would be awesome. When he asks the girl who she is, Jung runs up. Hae Soo is upset and actually makes contact with Jung. I live in Oregon. Not to mention she viewed Chea, as a little sister that had just been brutally executed. We knew there would a sad ending to this drama. Hae Soo has a vision/hallucination/bad daydream involving Prince So. I’m sure she got a clue, though, that her mysterious “boyfriend” was a prince when it looks like she impaled him while trying to assassinate Taejo. This is how So finds out that Hae Soo is sick. To be honest, he’s the main reason I’m watching. Jung stepped in, with the escape clause. Then, Prince Wook turns his back on her. A brother has to die soon. –lets not forget the letter that he gives her. As it seems to have done well internationally, the door may open for its actors and crew for more projects within the international realm. Lines, blurry or not, are being drawn. As long as the baby is healthy, everything else doesn’t matter. on Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, episodes 19 and 20, on Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, episodes 16, 17 & 18, Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, episodes 16, 17 & 18. Now, as for Prince So…it doesn’t matter he’s going to be Gwangjong (historically, anyway). I’m not sure why Taejo sent Prince So away…maybe it was because Prince So openly showed compassion for Hae Soo. Also, there are ways you can time sex to increase your chances of getting pregnant during treatment. I just watched a different one where So and Hae Soo are VERY friendly with each other!) While this is true to history, she really doesn’t know that. Hae Soo has no choice but to accept the fact that Princess Yeon-hwa has to become queen to support the throne. After a long conversation between me and a Scarlet Heart Ryeo, fanfic author in the comments section of their fanfic, I actually began to formulate some thoughts on the ending (these aren’t very eloquent since I was at work and on my phone anxiously trying to reply with very little time ), and the various decisions that lead up to the heart-breaking ending between Hae Soo and Wang So. And I still can’t get past her blindness when it came to Chae-ryung. That doesn’t change my opinion of Wook I still hate Wook. Since I believe that did happen in real history, I tend to believe it. As Hae Soo mentally matured, I began to realize that IU did a great job at portraying Hae Soo and did an awesome job in the rest of the drama. Typical of kdramas, there is unintended (and some intended) familiarity going on between Prince So and Hae Soo. Conditions on the Island led to fertility problems among the Others and an immune system related condition that causes women who become pregnant on the Island to die. Good bye, Prince Eun. It felt real. I just don’t get how the character Hae Soo could live in Goyreo for years and not get that kings kill people. In her vision/hallucinaton/bad daydream, she sees Prince So in a very red filter. What are my final thoughts on this episode? She should have kept well enough alone, like she was told to. Soo had to leave the palace before anyone could discover the pregnancy. Whatever it is, it’s not going to look pretty and I bet it will have something to do with Hae Soo. Prince So also shows his fealty to the Crown Prince, and the action seems to work. I knew it was too good to last… the romance between Prince So and Hae Soo. I could watch you all day. But in most women, ovulation occurs in the four days before or after the midpoint of the menstrual cycle. Prince Baek-ah’s “girlfriend”(I think it’s Prince Baek-ah…there are too many princes to keep track of), we get some vague sob story that may explain why she hates Taejo. What were you thinking? It’s IU I am most impressed with. When a total eclipse of the sun takes place, Hae-Soo (IU) travels back in time to the Goryeo era. Too bad Prince So got poisoned in the process, drinking the poisoned tea meant for the Crown Prince. It felt real. She was simply the King’s girlfriend in a society that couldn’t allow that. …..I had low expectations –but hey the actors all looked pretty (particularly the “villain?” character –very common in Cdrama for the villain to be the most strikingly handsome. He and Hae Soo get back together because she says she trusts him and she won’t leave him. He didn’t disappoint me. 1) Hae Soo’s Final Happy Moments in Goryeo. The girl runs to Jung and calls him “father.”  So realizes the girl is his daughter and tells Jung to give her up. Of course, Hae Soo has to help Prince Eun and his wife. Regardless, Hae Soo’s love triangle with Prince Wook and Prince So is getting more intense, and it’s starting to cause a little jealousy between the princes. You and your wife held a special place in all our hearts. Hell, she’s lucky she hasn’t been executed several times over during this drama (and she almost was, at one time). in my opinion I think he was always hoping that he could win her back (not sure how… tho)—he always underestimated So and therefore assumed that Soo couldn’t possibly -actually- love him. Things are going great for the SoSoo couple, too. I began shipping them (to be fair, from their personal little scene in the Damiwon, or even their first interaction. In episode 19, So is probably going to have angry sex with his wife, Yeon-hwa, thus conceiving that son she wants. I think that would be awesome. Again, kdrama land. I’m a little late to the Kdrama party, as I was (I still am.. I’m just mesmerized by all the pretty Kdrama right now) primarily a Cdrama fan. Prince So is compassionate, a trait you’d never think would be in a man who grew up with the hell in he grew in. Here is how my friend had sold it to me the whole previous year and I quote, “a girl time-travels back to feudal Korea, and has a reverse haram with a bunch (like 10 of them) brothers and eventually teaches the ‘wolf-prince-brother’ how to cover up his facial scar with make-up –so he falls in love with her –then she travels back to modern day” …I mean. I felt her portrayal of Hae Soo was over the top and childish. But, he lets his jealousy take over when he misinterprets a conversation between Hae Soo and Jung. So Hyun-soo is extremely confused about what has caused this sudden change in his wife and the only people he could ask for help were his friend from school Moo-jin, and his sister Hae-soo. Yeah, right. ( Log Out /  They look so good together. Jung Hae-in's claim to fame was In 2017 when he amassed immense popularity with his performance in fantasy romance series While You Were Sleeping. It also puts Prince So as next in line for the throne. He wakes up in a dark forest and meets a young girl, Young-hee, who takes him to her house called the "House of Happy Children". Right??) Oh, but what is Hae Soo going to do, now? Gosh, I hope that’s not the case. I have comments turned on. And are but the culmination of choices. He’ll get to like her, though. He waited and waited to rescue her when she allowed him to. Wang Jung will make sure that Hae Soo is “happy” with him. He has to have something up his sleeve to cause damage to the 8th prince. Yes, King Gwangjong (Wang So) was possessive to the extreme, but that was how royalty was to those “below” them back then. He is a graduate student from a prestigious university. Sorry, not sorry. She’s still hung up on the fact he will be Guangjong. Shortly after giving birth, Hae Soo (predictably) dies. Even Choi Ji wants her to stop interfering. Gosh, this was such hard episode to watch after we rejoiced in Prince So and Hae Soo finally getting together. Throughout the drama, there was always a looming fear that Do Hae Soo (Jang Hee Jin) wouldn’t survive the entirety of the show. Everyone’s true colors come out in this episode. Wook is a two-faced lair and can’t be trusted, ever. History has it she married Prince So. Since she was unable/was afraid (I think many reviewers/viewers tend to So too much of a free pass, annndd… His anger/vengeful/his lose of Soo blinded him in this Ito be his Queen, asuddenly feeling rejected (and freaky baby hormones) by So because even though she knew she couldn’t be his Queen (I still feel like So/Soo should have stuck to their guns more but —Ji Mong —the terrible advise machine and… well… history, we all tend to forget in our theorizing that this story is loosely based on historical fact), it still hurts to see someone else in your lovers arms (doubly so if you’re newly pregnant with their child). The symptoms are temporary, and in most cases, the cold will be gone in 7–10 days. We even felt So’s pain when he killed you. Let’s not forget, too, that Hae Soo is a court lady. He has to. When a person is pregnant, their body deals with a cold in much the same way as it does at any other time. And your supposed alliance with the Crown Prince, yeah…I don’t believe that for a second. Real. We will still see Hae Soo smile and laugh for the very last time. And then,  something totally unexpected happens. Women should not get pregnant for 1 month after getting chickenpox vaccine. Emperor Taejo, well, I just don’t like him. Emperor Taejo is liking the 4th prince, more and more. But, she really couldn’t have stayed as his concubine (that title would truly bind her to protocol and place her at the mercy of Yeon Won… I’ve watched too many haram dramas)… What exactly was she? ( Log Out /  Hae Kang was a happily married lawyer but after her daughter dies her marriage starts to fall apart. We all know Hae Soo will never forget your selfless act. Maybe it will feel more like a historical drama when swords and arrows start flying. I am in love with this drama and will recommend it to anyone who wants an intro to kdrama watching. (I get 2nd lead syndrome… all the time… and this was no different). That’s all that makeup is, really. They should wait to get chickenpox vaccine until after they have given birth. I love to watch Lee Joon Gi’s kissing scenes. You were the one person she could trust. I can understand why Taejo sent Hae Soo away. She could do worse. Hae Soo! Now, she is going to give up on So, after promising she would not do so. With that, I’m not so sure I’m going to like episode 14. I also think Hae Soo to Wook very much like So brought a sense of freedom/fresh air with her very modern pretenses (or lack there of) and honesty. … Their relationship was one born of trust won over time through friendship, and the many lectures of Hae Soo. When So finds this out, he finally reads the pile of letters Hae Soo has been sending him (he thought they were from Jung because the handwriting on the outside of the letters was not hers). Up until SHR, I have never binged an entire drama in one night… and all the next day…. 3) Hae Soo dies and she is not pregnant so there will be no miscarriage either. The chemistry between Hae Soo and Prince So is what we yearn to see in all kdramas and it’s much more compelling than the chemistry between Hae Soo and Prince Wook. I didn’t realize how hard I had been shipping them until Wook, started forming actual designs on Soo, and I found myself going, “But…I… I… kinda like…So.”… 8/… (Remember! Hae Soo Joung doctor in Chicago, IL. the astronomer adviser to the heavens?) We have a new bad guy with Prince Wook. Of course, Hae Soo doesn’t do that. Elisha Cuthbert plays Abby on the show, and she has been married to NHL player Dion Phaneuf for six years. Power is more important than true love. The episode ends with Hae Soo leaving the palace to go live with the exiled Wang Jung. Queen “you-suck-what’s-her-face,” aka Prince So and Prince Yo’s mother, takes this opportunity to order Prince So to kill the Crown Prince. SHR, was recommended to me after I finished watching Rise of Phoenixes (a Cdrama that is 3.5x as long at 70 episodess, with a similar plot… including the extremely unfulfilling end… good lord… there are too many heartbroken kings/princes/emperors out there in dramaland —we need to fix this). –These thoughts were from a different comments section and are more geared around the tragic ending and therefore less fluffy in nature……….. Scarlet Heart Ryeo was my first time watching any Kdrama (I also had never seen LJG in anything before —so I knew nothing of how he’s normally cast), I actually spent the whole first half of the show thinking So was the “emo-bad-guy-step-brother-character-type” since in Cdrama —he totally fits that trope…. Moonlovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and the gorgeous Lee Joon Gi, were my introduction to Kdrama, so they hold a VERY special place in my heart. Sigh. 화이팅! Episode 19 didn’t impact me much.
